My Life in a Nutshell
Although I was enjoying the warmer winter temperatures, Minnesota finally decided it’s time to dish out colder temperatures to freeze up the slush on the lakes. From the comfort of my warm home, I decided now would be a great time to hop on the laptop and share with you what I do as my professional career to support my family and my passion for the great outdoors, and to also share with you where my career choice has taken me and what I am blessed to be doing now. Before I get too far into the weeds, I would like to share a little about myself and how I got to where I am today:
Brainerd, one of the many Minnesota towns you could throw a rock in most any direction and end up in a lake, is the birthplace of many avid outdoorsman including myself. I grew up across the county road from the Haglin family farm where I was taught to set my goals high, work hard to achieve those goals and to be humble and grateful for what I have when success was achieved. I graduated high school in 2013 and earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing, Management and Entrepreneurship from Bemidji State University in the fall of 2017. While at BSU, I met my life long best friend and wife of 1.5 years and later bought a home in Pequot Lakes where we currently reside, living our own fairy-tale with our furry four-legged companions.
I grew up in a manufacturer’s home. My parents own and operate a plastics thermoforming company named LINDAR Corporation, later acquired a plastics tooling company formally known as Lakeland Molding Co. now known as Avantech who services the rotational molding industry, and most recently launched a third business venture named Tri-Ven LLC, a rotational molding facility. All three companies are located in the Baxter, MN industrial park and employ more than 250 people in the lakes area. So where do I fit into all this?
Before graduating from BSU and into my high school days, I spent my summers working at LINDAR learning many skills of the trade including welding, plumbing, woodworking and later about continuous improvement and how it is applied to all business functions. In January of 2018 I joined the family businesses and filled the new to LINDAR position of Purchasing Manager. So what does that mean? As Purchasing Manager, I am accountable for the management of our raw materials. I spend much of my time sourcing different types of plastic sheet materials that are used to form parts for our customers like Polaris, Bobcat, The Toro Company, Sherwin Williams, Walmart, Costco and many more.
When a specific material is sourced for a specific part and for a specific customer, I determine who we are buying that raw sheet from, negotiate our raw material costs and most importantly, I have the pleasure of creating strategic partnerships in business with our suppliers. In April of 2018 when we decided to launch Tri-Ven, my duties and responsibilities of Purchasing Manager carried over to Tri-Ven as well. Just when I thought I was getting the hang of manufacturing and the thermoforming process, in comes rotational molding. Time to learn yet another new process!
When you combine a burning passion for the great outdoors with the capabilities that Tri-Ven, Avantech and LINDAR have to offer, a fourth company is born. Eufouric Brands is a collection of outdoor related companies offering products that are manufactured right here in Baxter, Minnesota with a "Made in the USA" label proudly molded into each and every one of our products. Eufouric Brands is a company in which you will likely hear more from me about as we progress in the development of quality products to service the consumers of the outdoors industry and beyond. I am proud to present Maluna as our very first product line under the Eufouric Brands umbrella, and I cannot wait to tell you all about it!
Over the past few years I have learned so much about myself, about the plastics and outdoors industries and the endless opportunities within it. Needless to say, I have much to learn, but don’t we all? I have much to be thankful for, most importantly my beautiful wife Amber Haglin, my family and my friends that support me along the way.
“Life is like box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get”. That may be true as you never really know for sure where life will take you, but the steps you take now to set you up for then will give you the experience to have an educated guess as to what’s really in that box of chocolates.
